Miss Sheridan was Daniel's granddaughter. She was born in London in 1840 to John SHERIDAN and Frances Jane KEITH. The family soon moved to Adelaide where Frances and her daughters Alice and Violet ran a school for many years. Alice was a remarkable woman, skilled in languages. One of her projects was to translate from the Danish some of the lesser-known stories by Hans Christian Andersen. This she had published privately in Adelaide in 1886.
